Lexical profile of literary academic articles

In this paper, we examine the lexical profile of literary academic articles with a view to determining how they differ from research in other disciplines and vocabulary level complexity affect reading comprehension, particularly for non-native speakers English. For purpose, corpus 110 reputable journals was compiled compared against two corpora featuring same number articles: one consisting Science, Technology Medicine (STM), comprising social sciences humanities. The results reveal that papers is, as expected, more similar humanities than STM field when it comes coverage general-purpose vocabulary, diversity. Despite similarities humanities, is somewhat complex diverse found them. largest differences were noted respect whose use much sparser studies all fields. pedagogical implications include advocating refraining earlier postgraduate non-native-speakers English (with some exceptions), their will generally be insufficient those purposes. We also point limited value teaching students studies.
